Research Opportunities

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)

NIAID has announced the open application period for the next Intramural NIAID Research Opportunities (INRO)
program. Since 2001, INRO has been introducing students from underrepresented populations to research and
training opportunities in the areas of allergy, immunology, and infectious diseases at NIAID's Division of
Intramural Research.

NIAD is encouraging Native Hawaiian and/or Pacific Islander students to consider submitting an application
to the INRO program. This 5-day exploratory program is intended for students who are from populations
underrepresented in biomedical research.  During the INRO program, held February 3–7, 2008, selected students
will have the opportunity to explore the Institute’s unique training programs.

Participant activities will include:

  • Hearing scientific lectures from some of the world’s most talented investigators
  • Touring NIAID laboratories and viewing state-of-the-art science equipment
  • Interviewing with principal investigators for potential research training positions

To learn more about INRO and submit your application, please visit: www.niaid.nih.gov/labs/training/inro
Students must be in good academic standing. Preference is given to students with a grade point average
of 3.5 or above in science coursework.
